lines is an online magazine that engages with the political spaces of Sri Lanka. We understand that space not just as a question of elections and parliamentary debate, but conversations regarding contested visions of peace, multiculturalism, economic justice, feminisms, citizenship, sexual pluralism, diasporic nationalism, and such. We seek to provide a forum that inspires and challenges us to critically scrutinize the terms of received debates and enables alternative political imaginaries.

While Sri Lanka is the principle reference for the conversations engaged with in lines, it is not the sole concern. We actively seek articles that engage with the kind of issues enumerated above in addressing different territorial entities, from the occupied territories of Palestine to the State of Gujarat in India.

SAMAR (South Asian Magazine for Action and Reflection) is a magazine/website with a South Asian focus based in the United States. We choose to use the term "South Asian" because we feel it is important to bring attention to the fact that South Asians are a group of people with a shared history and that this history provides a common basis for understanding our place in the contemporary world. Whereas most other South Asian magazines are based on differences of region, religion and nationality within South Asia, we have chosen to base ours on a South Asian collectivity that is now spread out across the globe. At SAMAR, we hope to reflect the full complexity of "South Asian" in the composition of the editorial collective, contributors and readers.

Viewsunplugged means expressing without restraint! It is a forum where anyone who wishes can put forward their views on a particular issue. They can express their opinion and feelings without restraint but of course without offensive language or abuse. They can also interact with others who think alike or oppose their point of view. We have many interesting sections like a "travel" section, short stories, poems, musings, dias, reflections, book/movie reviews and so on. So go ahead and indulge in some great reading material !
